Castle life through the ages

Take a trip back in time for a day, in Chevreuse valley, between history and nature!
First stop: the Middle Ages. Discover the beautiful village of Chevreuse during a guided walk, and climb up to the château de la Madeleine, an 11th-century fortress overlooking the entire valley.
Second stop: the 17th century. Head to the château de Breteuil by coach. During a guided tour, learn about this castle and the Breteuil family, closely linked to French history. Enjoy the remarkable gardens and staging of famous characters from Charles Perrault’s fairy tales.


Programme:
- 9:15 am – Departure from Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse at the RER B station. Walk along the Ecosse Bouton stream, discovery of the medieval town of Chevreuse and life at that time. Stop for a refreshing and delicious locally-made drink (to be confirmed). Climb in the footsteps of the writer Jean Racine to the Madeleine castle, overlooking the Chevreuse valley.
- 12:00 pm – Bus ride to the castle of Breteuil.
- 12:30 pm – Picnic (not provided) in the magnificent park of the domain.
- 2:00 pm – Visit of the Breteuil castle and dive into the history of the Breteuil family, which is linked with the history of France. Then, free visit of the park.
- 5:00 pm – Back to the meeting point
